Course Duration:
Novice Operator ½ Day.
Ratio:
8 Trainees : 1 Instructor.
Objectives:
On completion of the training the student will understand and be able to comply with the following;
Their responsibilities under the current legislation and guidelines
The safety rules and procedures applicable to the duties of a User of Steps & Ladders
Selecting the Correct Ladders BS 1129 & BS 2037
Correct use of ladders / Safe systems of work
Common hazards & how to control them
Requirements for inspection of ladders
Certification:
At the end of the course the successful student will receive a Certificate of training and an ID card (if requested).
Course Content:
The health and safety at work act 1974 sec 2,3,7, and 8.
There responsibilities under European Six – Pack 1992 / 1998
The responsibilities under RIDDOR 1995
HSE Guidance note GS 31
The H&S Enforcing authorities, jurisdiction, powers & penalties
Safe systems include. Securing of ladders, Correct Angles, Correct Overlap, Climbing Up / Down, Lifting of Loads on ladders, Working on Ladders, Storage, Carrying & Transporting.
